About the Company
Desmond Landscape was started by Don Desmond in 1980. Don’s father, Frank, started landscaping part time in the 1960s. Don, along with his brothers (Frank, Phil, John, Nick and Rich), grew up working the summers with their dad. After graduation from Denver Automotive and Diesel College in 1976, Don worked as a mechanic and continued to work part time landscaping with his dad for the next several years. In December of 1979, after initially accepting a job as a mechanic for the Highland Park Public Works Department, Don decided to decline the job offer and take the landscaping business from part time to full time.
We started as a lawn service company that also installed trees, shrubs, and sod. In the early 1980s, we offered landscape design services and also started installing low-voltage lighting. By 1986, we had expanded into hardscaping -- paver patios, walkways and driveways. We started installing water features in 1988.
By the mid-1990s, we removed ourselves from weekly lawn maintenance and snow plow services to concentrate on design and installation work. During the last decade, we have expanded our services to include solutions to water drainage issues that homeowners were experiencing. Desmond Landscape continues to be a family-run operation. Don's wife, Suzie helps out in the office and his daughter Christine helps with administrative duties, while Don continues to estimate, design, and oversee the installation of all landscape projects.
